Not so bad, after all.

It was “just as well” we didn’t go to the park on Sunday. It rained all day.

“Just as well” means not so bad.  Sometimes you are disappointed something didn’t happen but later you realize it was “just as well.”

“It was just as well my trip was canceled. I had a bad cold that week.”

“It was just as well he didn’t get the job. That is a terrible company to work for.”

“It was just as well she broke up with her boyfriend. He treated her very poorly.”

“It was just as well we missed the movie. My friends said it was horrible.”
